2. Woven ColourIf you want colour, look at our Woven Colour option. This is not paint — we use coloured cloth built right into the canoe. Souris River Canoes is the only North American canoe builder using Woven Colour technology. It doesn’t add weight, and you cannot scratch it off. |

3. Clear finishWe do not paint or gel coat any of our canoes. Gel coat does add a smooth showroom finish to a canoe. It also adds several pounds without adding any strength. While it does have some abrasion resistance, it is quite brittle. Look at a gel-coated canoe that is a few years old, and you will find cracks. All our canoes are built with a clear finish. Because we use Epoxy resin, it is strong. Most scratches can be covered by applying a coat of varnish. And, a clear finish highlights our stunning layups. |
