A Note on Photos

Used Canoes

Slightly used canoes are demonstration models. They are essentially new, but will have some scratches on the hull. In many cases, a light application of varnish can return these canoes to new or nearly-new condition. Moderate or heavily used canoes are generally lease returns. These canoes may have a season or two of use. They are structurally sound, but will be more heavily scratched.

The following red canoes were built with a colour fabric that had been too tightly woven. As a result, there are some small pit-marks in the hull. These do not affect performance of the canoe. There may be some whitish marks near the bang plates, and dull spots.

These burgundy canoes may have some small white spots on the ends, some pitting in the hull, and some dull spots. The gold powder-coated gunwales may scuff more easily than our anodized gunwales.

Factory Seconds

Factory seconds are canoes that do not quite meet our exacting standards for full retail sale. The issues with these canoes are cosmetic only, and are described on the chart below. The factory seconds listed here will perform exactly like our retail canoes.

Discontinued Models

Most of these canoes are coloured Duralite® lay-ups. Duralite was a lower-cost alternative to Kevlar, which we no longer offer. Duralite is a few pounds heavier, and slightly less strong than our Kevlar canoes, (though still stronger than many of our competitors’ Kevlar canoes).

"Hull imperfections" refers to slight pitting in the exterior of the hull.

Some of these canoes were built with trim options that we no longer offer.
